How to Participate

Come to the Sale
On Saturday July 24th come to the Auction and select the animal(s) of your choice and do your own bidding. You may have your animal(s) processed for your freezer or arrange resale at market price (“Buy Back”, See below).
If you are keeping the meat you will be asked to select a cutting and wrapping facility to process your meat. Several options will be provided and in some cases these facilities have freezer (locker) space available for rent.

Register Early
Register on-line here and receive your buyer’s information packet early.

Buy Back Program
If you want to participate in helping but you have no need for the meat the animal can be resold via the buy back program. The buyer will pay the difference between the auction sale purchase price and the current market price that is established the day of the sale.

Example:

Lamb Weight 120 lbs
Auction Price $2.65 per lb. (2006 avg.) $318.00
Buy Back Price @$.85 per lb $102.00
Buyer pays difference of $216.00*

*In some cases this premium amount has been accepted by the IRS as a deductible charitable expense. Please consult your tax advisor for additional information.

Add-On
An “Add-On” is a donation, above and beyond the auction sale price of the animal that you identify for a particular student/animal / lot number. Any amount of money, large or small, can be donated through an “Add-On” without actually buying the animal.

  • Register as a buyer
  • Pick an exhibitor/ lot number you want to add-on a supplemental amount to
  • Fill out the paper work marking add-on and the amount you want to pay
  • The price can be a per pound or flat rate amount
  • You can add on in the arena at the add-on table
